The College of Our Lady of Fatima sent an eight-man team to this year’s Penn Relays inPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania,USA. This track and field festival is held annually at theUniversityofPennsylvania’s Franklin Field stadium in the heart of the “city of brotherly love”. This was our second consecutive trip to this mega track event. Improvement is the word that comes immediately to mind as both our 4x100m and 4x400m teams bettered performances over last year, despite blustery conditions.
In the 4x400m the team of Breon Mullings (Form V), Nahshon Rullow (Lower Form VI), William Alexander (Upper Form VI), and Xavier Mulugata (Form III) clocked 3:29.25 which was a much more competitive time over the previous year. These boys ran extremely well in temperatures lower than 10° C (or 50° F) eventually finishing fourth in there race where they led for nearly half of it. This performance put us 144th out of 565 male high schools from the Caribbean,Canada and theUSA.
In the 4x100m, we won our heat in a time of 44.26 (43.71 in 2011) placing us 44th out of 283 in the male large schools division and 78th overall out of all 583 male high schools (small and large school divisions combined). Congrats to Trey Hart (Lower Form VI, Abraham Bowen (Form IV), Breon Mullings (FormV), and Alexander Prevatt (Form V) for doing their best in this event.
The entire team wishes to thank all those who contributed in any way to getting us to the Penn Relays for another year. May God abundantly bless you for your generosity.
