Fatima is North U-15 & U-17 cricket champions!

Fatima College’s cricket teams have done it again in the Secondary Schools Cricket League’s (SSCL) North under-15 knockout final in St Clair on June 2nd, and on June 9th for the North under-17 title as well. Having defeated both St. Mary’s College and St. Anthony’s College, our Fatima boys are keeping the flame of Fatima burning on the cricket field.

“FATIMA spanked St Mary’s by eight wickets to claim the Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) North Zone Under-15 knockout crown at the St Mary’s Ground, St Clair on Tuesday. With the win, Fatima took the double, having been crowned the national Under-14 trophy.

Leg-spinner Haffiz Emamalie took four wickets for four runs, in four overs, while Christian Kissoon had three wickets for six runs as St Mary’s were bundled out for 45. Jeremy Araujo top-scored for St Mary’s with 12.

In reply, Fatima finished on 46 for two with Dominic Henderson hitting an undefeated 25 and national youth player Camillio Carimbocas on the other end with 11 to clinch victory

The prize-giving ceremony took place shortly afterwards, with Emamalie adjudged the “Man-of-the-Match” and the Best Bowler, Henderson the Best Batsman, Araujo the Best Wicketkeeper and Nirshal Samaroo the Best Fieldsman.

Fatima College Cricket team has been invited to take part in the up coming “Sir Garfield Sober, 25th Anniversary Cricket tournament, in Barbados.
This tournament takes place from July 3rd to 20th, 2011.
