On Sunday the 18th of December, the proud prefects of Fatima College and Holy Name Convent gathered at Holy Name Convent’s hall at 10 a.m. to put the finishing touches on our preparations to host the annual Christmas party for the lesser fortunate children of the St. Dominic’s Home.
Not only does this venture test organizational skills of both groups of prefects, but it also forges friendships that will last for a life time, all for one better cause. The kids were greeted by Elmo, Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, and were entertained with music and various activities such as ‘Simon Says’, ‘Musical Chairs’, Football, a Bouncy Castle and a professional Magic Show, while also being provided with lunch and an abundance of snacks.
At the end of the day’s proceedings, Santa Claus took center stage and presented each kid with a gift that was purchased by a designated Big Brother or Big Sister. It warmed the hearts of everyone present to see the smiles on the faces of these children as they received their gifts. Thanks must be given to the principals of both schools, Father Gregory Augustine of Fatima and Ms.Aqui of Holy Name. Also special mention must be given to Ms. Duff, Sister Renee Hall and all the companies who sponsored food items to this cause. Let us also not forget the hardworking prefects of Fatima and Holy Name, who gave of their time and energy to ensure that this venture was successful.
