Fr. Gregory Augustine

The year 2013 marks the 150th Anniversary of the Holy Ghost Fathers presence in Trinidad. We are not only marking an anniversary but we are also reflecting on our mission.
The words dynamic, exciting and challenging can be used to describe our life here at Fatima College. How does this environment relate to a world that is experiencing revolution from its youth in the Middle East and North Africa who are saying “no” to years of tyranny and in the West who are facing a lingering recession and accompanying austerity measures?  We continue to prepare our boys for these global challenges not through fear but with confidence to embrace the future

Our faith in God and in the intrinsic value of our students has enabled us to effectively create an environment that is nurturing, that demands high standards and calls students to a deeper sense of themselves.  This yearbook showcases a vibrant College Community facing head-on the demands of the 21st century.  May this inspire us in the words of our motto “By striving we shall conquer.”

Fatima College salutes all those who over the years have contributed to establishing the highest standards in a consistent and unwavering manner.

Daily, through the media, we are confronted and affected by the breakdown and the decline of standards all around us. Daily, as members of this educational institution, we are called to strive, to maintain, to upkeep those standards, albeit in a society that appears to accept the slide, the deterioration and I dare say the “death” of standards.

Mary, the Patroness of our college “stood” at the foot of the cross, as she faced the “death” of her Son, yet she believed that He would rise again.

In these times, we too are called to “stand” at the foot of the cross, as we witness the “death” of standards in our society and in our world.

May Mary, our mother, give us the grace to continue believing that we too can rise again and work tirelessly setting the standards in these challenging times.
